Basket of Hope Liberia challenges is manpower and logistical support which include ranting of office space, vehicles, computer laptops, donor funding projects, and direct partnership with donor funding organization. The solution to these challenges is to create a room of empowerment through sustainable development programs such as 1. Sewing and tailoring training for drop out of school girls and adolescents that can not afford to get back to school. Encouraging and providing Educational Materials to the Ebola orphans and vulnerable children which is also a helping hand to reduce poverty in the caretakers of these children. When and why did we start the NGO, Liberia when through 14 years of civil conflict and women and children were the most vulnerable people in society that were highly victimized. As a student activist, with empathy decided to establish an organization that will focus on the rights of women and children needs, protection and their human rights and dignity for all. Friends and Family of Incarcerated Persons, Inc. d/b/a FFIP, is an 18-year old non-profit organization that has been created in direct response to the growing number of people incarcerated in the United States. FFIP offers services to adults and children who have been affected by having a loved one in the prison system and provides an opportunity to obtain and share information in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Services include support group meetings, email, phone calls, website containing resources and information, Facebook, workshops, and holiday events. FFIPs’ goals are to continue helping people across the U.S. by creating FFIP chapters, creating permanent space for meetings, events, support and to provide information, and to provide transportation so families can visit their loved ones in prison.
There are over two million people in the U.S.that are incarcerated, however there over four million more that are sitting in jails waiting to be sentenced or on parole or probation. That’s over six million people affected by mass incarceration. When someone is incarcerated it affects much more than that one person, it also affects their families and their community. Whether someone is sentenced to six weeks or six years or longer, their family is serving the sentence with them; the only difference is that they’re serving it on the outside. Some families feel shame and suffer from depression. People may stop talking to them or may not let their children play with their children. Nobody should feel alone, and nobody should have to serve the hidden sentence alone.

To help low-income children, particularly homeless, foster, and orphan children and youth, achieve success and fulfillment and give back.
Helping kids has a three-generation history in Anne’s family. When an orphanage in which she had an interest folded, her grandfather took in five orphans and brought them up, with the help of her grandmother and aunt. As a little girl, Anne helped bathe, dress, and feed baby orphans at a children’s home and school her parents founded in rural New Mexico. A few years ago, one of those orphans paid her a surprise visit in Wisconsin.
Since starting her fund in 2004, Anne has volunteered with or supported a number of organizations for at-risk children, either personally or through the fund. “But,” she says, “I want to help more children.” Getting money to do this was the purpose of her World Record climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2015 as an 85-years-young great-grandmother. It’s not as absurd as it sounds. Anne says, “I’m not a professional climber, but I have always loved hiking.” At 76, Anne climbed Pikes Peak and four other mountains over 14,000 feet. She has climbed mountains in the western United States and Mexico, as well as Ayers Rock in Australia, the Great Pyramid in Egypt and the pyramid in Mexico City.
In 2019, Anne plans to be the oldest person to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, again to benefit children and youth through building her foundation. She continues to train by climbing Mummy Mountain daily with her little dog, as well as other mountains around Arizona. Just before going to Africa, she plans to spend time in Colorado to acclimate to a higher altitude and climb taller peaks. Anne comments, “If I combine my love of climbing mountains with my passion for helping kids, what could be better?”

6. Scholarships for music, business, and advanced education will be offered.
7. Successful children and youth will pay it forward as volunteers or with donations.

Prancing Ponies Foundation’s mission is ‘Creating Women Leaders One Girl at a Time’.
There are millions of organizations that service the ‘cradle to college’ path however, very few focus on the ‘college to career’ transition which is most critical to ensuring girls are prepared to step into corporate leadership roles as quickly as possible.
We provide 3rd year STEM girls the training to accelerate their careers into leadership positions. The training provided would normally take girls 5 – 8 years to learn on the job. We no longer want our girls to waste this time, so we train them before they graduate college on:
• How to run an affective meeting
• Preparing and give presentations
• Managing a budget and analyze a P&L
• Negotiating their salary
• …and receive monthly mentoring for the rest of their lives
In 2015, Prancing Ponies Foundation began with the goal to teach 1000 girls leadership skills by 2020, we will accomplish this goal through 4 programs:
Acceleration Workshops (Jan 2019): Held quarterly, these interactive workshops will provide our Academy graduates continuing education supporting their accelerated career growth to corporate leadership roles.
Champions Mentoring Program (Feb 2019): Allow mentors to register and provide detailed profiles for the areas in which they can help to create strong mentor/mentee relations.
3rd annual summer Leadership Acceleration Academy & Internship (June 2019): Graduates receive help with company placement, life-long mentoring and educational support.
Online Leadership Academy for high school girls (Sep 2019): This high school club takes the curriculum from our summer Academy and brings it to classrooms and after-school programs and allows us to reach thousands of underserved girls nationally.
Our dream is to see 250 Women CEOs running S&P 500 companies. We believe we can change the numbers of Women represented in leadership from a decrease of 25% in 2018 to an increase of 50% in the next 10 years.

Quoria Foundation’s project — Math4ALL — is math practice software that will be accessible in 95 languages — the languages spoken by over 99% of the English language learners (ELLs) in U.S. schools. ELLs are America’s least-educated student population. Research informs us that they need educational content in their native languages to help them stay on pace with their English-speaking peers. In the absence of that content, far too many fall behind and stay behind.
The problem of educating these students is national and systemic. Los Angles Unified has 91 languages spoken by its students. The schools in New York City have 159 languages. Teachers across this nation are in desperate need of a solution.
Math4ALL represents a new genre of educational technology we call “massively multilingual.” The goal is help level the academic playing field for ELLs by enabling them to improve their math skills from their first day of school. Math4ALL can help mainstream ELLs with little or no educator oversight.
It’s a powerful, research-based math tool at the core of STEM (the U.S. Department of Education’s focus on improving education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Math4ALL’s content ranges from kindergarten level up to pre-algebra.
Also, Math4ALL will have an assessment module that will give teachers visibility on what their students know and don’t know.
Math4ALL is based on an award-winning math practice software program that was chosen for use in all Sylvan Learning centers in North America. That product was created by Quoria’s founder. Now, Quoria is creating a superior version of that software, adding 94 languages, and making it available for free.
Quoria will begin a pilot of Math4ALL in Oakland Unified School District on June 18, 2018. This version of Math4ALL will be accessible in 25 of the 53 languages spoken by Oakland’s students.
Our goal is to expand the pilot to other school districts, add features to Math4ALL, and add math content.

Science education in the US is sorely lacking, especially at the elementary school level. Only 37% of 4th graders scored at or above proficient nationwide in science and the achievement gap between Whites and underrepresented minorities is 45-50 points; the gap between high- and low- income students is 30 points.
These achievement gaps begin in kindergarten and persist at least until 8th grade, proving how critical early intervention is for these students (http://bit.ly/scigapsbeginearly). Teachers spend less time on science than they have in the past, they are ill prepared to teach science, and don’t have enough resources to do so (WestEd 2013).
Science is Elementary is unique. We provide a turnkey solution to help schools and districts build capacity for high quality science education through implementation focused professional development for teachers coupled with engaging, hands-on, thought provoking, science experiments for students.
Our vision is that All children realize science is awesome and use its principles to better their lives and our mission is to effect systemic change in elementary school science education by teaching students, training teachers, and engaging the scientific community.
We have two programs: a direct service in-class program for students and a professional development program for teachers. Our In-class program offers monthly 90-minute lessons in elementary classrooms (TK-5th) during the school day, teaching scientific reasoning through hands-on experiments in physical science and engineering. Lessons are taught by scientists and engineers with deep classroom experience. Students show gains of 85% in content acquisition and and increase of 50%-100% in positive attitudes to science. Our professional development program focuses on how to teach rigorous science and engineering, and scientific reasoning, integrated with English literacy. Teachers increase their science teaching by 50% and 90% report increased confidence.
To date, we’ve impacted over 10,000 students and their teachers and have trained 1,000 scientists and engineers to serve as mentors.
Our goal is to double our program in the next two years, both locally and nationally.
